About Sunshine Yarns

Sunshine Yarns is a small artisan yarn company that creates unique hand-dyed yarns and fibers. The company was founded in the Fall of 2005 by Dani Frisbie, after working for a short time as an Environmental Scientist. She always had a love for color and found that dyeing yarn allowed her to blend two of her favorite things in the world: nature and yarn. Based in Boulder, CO and the beautiful outdoors, she soon started creating colorways inspired by recent travels, the backyard, books and more. “I love taking a picture and translating it onto yarn - there is nothing better than knitting with something that is meaningful to you or me”. Sunshine Yarns has grown to encompass a huge range of colorways and unique dyeing techniques, a strong web presence, and a growing list of patterns.

We find the highest quality yarns and fibers for your knitting and spinning needs. We choose the yarns based on a variety of characteristics, including: softness, spin, durability and dyeability. Sunsilk Lace 100% silk 400 yards per 100 gram skein Needle size 2-8 US or 2.25 to 4.5 mm Handwash cold, shape flat to dry. A gorgeous, lustrous, heavy laceweight - light fingering yarn, perfect for lace projects. This 2 ply has an amazing drape and holds up to the test of time.

BFL Silk 75% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 25% silk Handwash cold, dry flat Finally! The rustic quality of BFL, and the gorgeous sheen of silk! The perfect blend for beginners.
SW BFL 100% superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool Machine or handwash delicately cold, dry flat The long stable-length of BFL makes it wonderful and easy to spin. Combine that with the ease of superwash and we have a new favorite, perfect to use for any knitting project!
Merino Silk 65% superwash merino wool, 35% silk Machine or handwash delicately cold, dry flat. A warm and luxurious spinning fiber that has just the right amount of sheen. Would be especially beautiful to use in lacework.
Merino Tencel 50% superwash merino wool, 50% tencel Machine or handwash delicately cold, dry flat. This buttery soft roving has lots of strength and sheen. It dyes up beautifully and creates a wonderful yarn.
SW Merino 100% superwash merino wool Machine or handwash delicately cold, dry flat. Our versatile superwash merino is scrumptious and soft. Perfect for any handknitting project, and a favorite of ours to use for baby knits and socks.
